Tre Hardson Opened the show Time: 2:32:43 SHNs: 867 MB Spearhead is: Michael Franti - Vocals, Acoustic Guitar Dave Shul - Electric Guitar Carl Young - Bass Mannas Itiene - Drums Bob Crawford - Keyboards * Radioactive - Human Beat Box * Bob Crawford fills in for Kevin Choice on this show. Notes: Soundboard Mix by Tige. This show was taped off the SBD by Dan Kramer (tahoespearit) on his M-1 DAT. Transferred & SHN'd by Matt Ziegler (

). Flaws: This is a beautiful recording with a few small exceptions: There were a couple cuts in the original DAT. The first occurs between soulshine and radioactives solo It was removed from the recording. There are 2 sound drop outs in sometimes. they last about 5-10 seconds each. Review by Dan Kramer (tahoespearit) For anyone unfamilar to Colorado and it's venues, this is a brand new club. The food is kick ass and they featured many different selections beer, wine and spearits! The decore is very upscale and has three sections to the club. The bottom floor has the kitchen, bar and dinning room where you can still see the stage from. The next floor is like a big foyer/dancefloor connecting up to the top floor where you can find more room to see and dance with another bar so you don't have to go downstairs. Radio comes out and asks if everyone is ready to break this place in since this is the first night the club is openned. He goes on to say "we need to get some sweat up on the ceilings and do this place right". Michael than breaks into the openning, bouncey acoustic guitar intro to Everyone Deserves Music which is coming around nicely with the full band backing him up and really jamming out the middle of the song. Carl counts off right into the reagge vesion of People In Tha Middle as the crowd lights up the mood and the dancefloors start bobing. Without loosing a beat they ripped right into What Happens Next the place about errupts into a massive dance frenzy. Bob is really starting to sound like he has been working with the band for awhile now and has a special latin influence which fits like a glove in this band. After a short breather, Michael welcomes everyone to the 32 Blue and gives a shout out to Tre' Hardson's band for opening up for them and also for dropping the first notes in this brand new club. Every Single Soul followed with Dave playing very soulfully and then bringing it up into a more rocking pace. Michael also treats us to his poem, "Nature", from the Beatnig days after Dave's 1st solo. Perfect transition into Stay Human with Carl destroying his solo with the new effects pedals he has newly aquirred. After a fairly standard Stay Human, Michael takes a moment so Dave can grab his acoustis guitar for the one of new song, "Never Too Late". The crowd learned the words quickly and joined in with Michael on vocals. Michael then takes another moment to speak about a new song they are going to play. He tells of the time he was in Cuba and while he was thier he realized that it was alot more beautiful and friendlier then everyone had been telling him. He than goes on to say that with this new homeland security act, they want us to spy and tell on each other as we all build up and locking ourselves in these ivory towers to protect ourselves. Just Dave on acoustic with Michael on vocals. Very beautiful and very apropriate with the times we are faced with right now. Michael thanks the crowd for having them in Colorado for the week before leading the band into Yes I Will. Michael throws in a Marley line from "Sun is Shinning" and changes it alittle to, "Sun is Shinning, weather is sweet, Come to Colorado and move my dancing feet". Bob continues on with the keyboard tone that starts off "What I Be" as the band brings up the groove and gets the party bouncing again. The transition into Pray For Grace was smooth and Radio does alittle beatbox solo over the jamming part of the song which sound great and would be a foreshadowing of versions to come! Do Ya Love followed with Michael singing/teasing Michael Jackson's "I wanna Rock with You" towards the end. Michael continues on with another new one that should be on the new album called, "Love Why Did You Have To Go". This song is developing nicely and has a power ballad kind of sound to it starting off soft and slow and ending in a very powerful way/message. The guys stepped it up for the last song of the night, Soulshine. Radioactive emerged from the darkness armed with flutes and mic in hand. After teasing the crowd a couple of times on the flute, Radio sends one out to Blue 32 and says that if everyone dosen't come back to this new venue all the time, they wouldn't come back (jokingly). Radio shows off a new trick where he takes off the mic head and press the mic's diaphram onto his neck and beatboxes. Sounds alittle muffled but a cool concept! Next he plays a little name that tune as he beatboxes Metallica's "One". After three deep breathes, Radio leads the band into Rock the Nation. The sold out crowd picked up where they left off, bouncin' off the walls. Oh My God followed the rather short Rock The Nation with Bob alittle off with the intro but recovering nicely for the rest of the song. Michael gets his acoustic from the guitar tech, Joey, and flows on with a sweet version of Feelin' Free. Michael throws in abit of Marley's, "Exodus" to strengthen the reagge vibe cast from Feelin' Free before tossing in the Love Train verse. Michael then takes a moment to talk about the situations at hand in the world before going into Bomb The World backed by Dave on guitar and Carl and Manas on background vocals. Finally, Michael calls apon Dave for the beginning guitar lick to Sometimes. Bob and Manas trade off chops with Bob breaking off some freaky ass, funkified licks. Dave and Carl are up next and they rip off some more funk for everybody with Michael joinning in with alittle P-Funk action, singing, "Let's Work This Motha Out". Carl shreds another Bass solo until Radio starts in repedive over all ly with, "Shit, Goddamn, get off your ass and jam". Michael and Radio get everyone singing, "32 Blue, 32 Blue, 32 Blue" as he thanks all the waiters/waitresses, cooks and bartenders and the openning band Tre' Hardson and the Legend of the Phoniex. Overall, a great show and even better way to chrisian any new venue!!!!!! Please share this music with those who seek it.
