View Notes* Cris Kirkwood : drums / Curt Kirkwood : guitar and vocals / Derrick Bostrom : backstage Recording notes from taper: Cris had issues with the active electronics on his music man bass; I witnessed this a few nights earlier at the jetty in bloomfield NJ (1985-08-12), leading him to borrow opened gut bank's bass at the end of the set after sitting out the first part of blue moon of kentucky. the bass is louder and deeper in the mix during tracks 2 and 3 - this is as it was heard from the audience. the bass can be heard dropping out at times later in the set. alas, the peppermint lounge show would be the last for this bass; cris destroyed it in frustration after good golly miss molly. the quick fade at the end of that song is on the original recording. a couple of seconds of tape noise are removed here. the fade in at seal whales is also on the original tape. there is an earlier transfer of this recording that has circulated which is different in a few respects: the original cassette was transferred to DAT (SV-3700) through an alesis ME230EQ before the digital transfer to CD-R, and this earlier transfer has an annoying artifact early in swimming ground, but otherwise the final product sounds surprisingly similar in equalization, though the new recording offers a warmer and deeper low end, and eliminates the additional analogue generation of the earlier transfer. recording and post production by mL Please support the meat puppets by sharing this recording in lossless formats only, purchasing their official releases and attending their live shows. Additional notes by popskull: - Faded in 1st track - Split Hot Pink and Such a Night into individual tracks - renamed fileset to match etree naming conventions - tagged flacs in foobar - re-did notes, ffp and md5 - Otherwise this is exactly how taper gave it to me Recorded, transferred and assembled by Michael Lopez Thanks to Michael for taping and sharing!
