Taper Notes:
View NotesOpening act: Ryan Montbleau *Gear #1: HP2200 iPAQ Pocket PC (built-in mono microphone) – full show and the only source of Sound Check snippet > Adobe Audition (decrease volume 7db, saved as a false stereo file). Gear #2: Belkin TuneTalk Stereo microphones (auto gain off) > Video iPod – full show Gear #3: This recording’s source: Zoom H2 (front, 90 degree angle mics, no windsock, low gain, recording level 120) > SanDisc > PC > Adobe Audition (increase volume by 4db, light Hiss Reduction) > CD Wave (cut tracks) > Trader's Little Helper (Align on Sector Boundaries, Encoding level 6, convert to .flac) *Johnny Dubrois (?) special guest on snare drums (Martin says his name after Gypsy - I can't understand the last name) Notes: I grabbed a snippet of Marty’s sound check using my iPAQ before being politely asked to leave. I have included it here for posterity. Marty's voice and guitar playing were solid for this show, which included a great set list, and oddly, no covers at all (something was "bumped" for Goin’ to the Country but I don't know what). I had a pretty good recording location and am happy with the result. After There Go I, I moved everything from my table since it was getting bumped a lot to the end of an unused bar, sort of in a corner and protected by some walls. Neither the bumps nor the change in location affected the recording. For the most part, the people around me were quiet. Occasional beer bottle collections by staff can be heard. All in all, a solid recording. I fell in love with Marty’s music listening to Way I Am from the soundboard release of a Central Park show (1997?). Marty frequently handles the high parts in a different way, but this version follows the same vocal format as the Central Park show - I was in heaven. Please abide by Martin Sexton’s taping and trading policy and only convert this show to Lossy formats for personnel use.
