View NotesJust a beautiful set to open for Slowdive from Minnesota's finest slowcore outfit. First time for me seeing Alan and company, though I did catch him fronting Retribution Gospel Choir a few years back. There were talkers all around, but they didn't seem to overly impact this recording, since I used cardoid mics. A couple of right channel drops at the start of 'No comprende' that I patched, so there's a shift to false stereo to cover up that I'm only left with one channel. Solution for this is to use an angle plug to make for a better connection. I also hit pause very briefly about 25 seconds into the first song, so had to edit in a quarter measure to keep continuity... added in the preamp to give the mics more power, seems to have worked OK. The funny part is that I played DIIV on the way to the show, and you can hear it over the PA at the end of the set. Photos of the band taken with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 are also included.
