Night 2 of 3 nights leading up to New Years Eve at Beat Kitchen in Chicago. Night 2 was arguably the most special of all 3 nights as Scott opened the show with a solo acoustic set performing 2004's "Whatever Happened To P.J. Soles?" as voted on by the crowd. The original opener, Jennifer Hall had to cancel due to COVID. Then during the main set the band decided to tribute their mixtapes with 10 covers. "(We Are) The Road Crew" (being the only one not released on a mixtape), but still fit the mold. We also were sans "Bound For The Floor", which is a real rarity, but it happened here. If you're a die hard, this set is for you! Only 3 radio singles played during the 2 hour 40 minute show! On the recording, I havent taped at the Beat Kitchen with any current gear, so I assumed my cardioids would perform the best given the loud nature of the crowds in there. What I didnt realize is how close and loud the PA would be where I set up. The omnis would have done a much better job (maybe given the recording some seperation), but it is what it is. IMO, this sounds pretty flat, but its still a good listen with some EQ. I would recommend adjusting on your home stereos accordingly. Enjoy! One final note, I had a "whoo'er" behind my stand for the entire WHTPJS? acoustic set, so I spent roughly 2+ hours removing him the best I could in iZotope RX7. I politely asked him after "Everyone Alive" to keep it down during the performance, but he refused to listen. Thanks to RX7, you wont hear him much, but its worth making mention of.
