This was a "secret" show for the band's Facebook group, The Cold Manor. Only 33 tickets were sold -- yes 33! It was extremely hard to get in. Some fans had to sit outside near the bar just to hear! Having not gotten a ticket, I arrived early and Scott let me in with my gear. I set up off to the side of the room. I found a wooden box to sit on, made friends with the owner, promoter, venue staff & was allowed to stay. The entire show was acoustic except for the final 3 songs, "Smothered", "Hand To Mouth" & "Watchtower". During the first hour of the performance we had a very obnoxious older gentleman who was seated behind me. He clearly had way too much to drink before the show and decided to talk to his party whenever he felt like it. He also disrespected Scott more than once (on stage). At the end of "Simple Pleas", Scott had had enough, took a twenty out of his wallet, handed it to him and told him to leave. Turns out, he wasnt even a member of the FB group, he was a last minute extra ticket when someone had backed out. If you can tune him out during the first half (thank god, he doesnt talk during the incredible rendition of "Buffalo Trace"), its not a bad listen. Most of the songs are crowd requests and some great ones were picked. When was the last time you saw some of these songs in a setlist? Not to mention, outside of "Eddie Vedder", not one radio single was played. Truly a show for the hardcores. You might be looking at that setlist and wondering what "Creature Comforted" sounds like acoustic, well wonder no more. Thanks to the band for letting me in and HUGE thanks to Kelly Wey and Joe Shanahan for making this show possible! There are 4 more planned for June, hopefully a couple will get recorded, as I cannot attend. Ryan Harding played bass off and on throughout the set and Gabe Rodriguez guested on drums. Ryan did get behind the kit for a couple songs - most notably, "Another February" and "Creature Comforted". Scott performed quite a bit solo. Blake Smith (Caviar, Fig Dish) guested on "All Along The Watchtower" to close out the evening playing bass.
