View NotesComments: Special Guests: Craig Fuller Rodney Crowell Sam Bush Larry Campbell Teresa Williams Leftover Salmon 10th Annual Little Feat Fan Excursion - third night Notes: - All editing and mastering with UAD-1 in 24/44.1 - SBE free Featroller comment: a look at the setlist explains what Paul means when he introduces the show as "Random Element Night". I'd go a step further: instead of a Little Feat show, this should be called a Big Feat show. The guests are part of the band, not additions to it. For some songs hardly any Feat members are onstage. Did You Love Me at All is a Larry Campbell-written ballad performed by Larry and his wife Teresa Williams. Samson and Delilah, well-known to Deadheads, is also mostly Larry picking away bluegrass-style and Teresa with a rousing vocal. Most of the more familiar tunes like the Band's Up on Cripple Creek, Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone, and the great blues classic Crossroads are sung by Sam Bush. Same with Tennessee Jed – a mandolin-driven jamfest. Paul gets terrific slide solos on all these, and it's great to hear Billy's take on the classic organ during Like a Rolling Stone. They do start with a couple of Feat numbers. Slippin' & Slidin' is the Little Richard song that's been on setlists for a while now. And Salome is another new one from Billy and Robert Hunter, making its debut. Rhumba Girl is a Jesse Winchester tune Paul used to play with Nicolette Larson. He and Craig Fuller trade lead vocals on a funky Featish romp. The jams keep rolling through Crossroads and Tennessee Jed, and then they close with the glorious Gimme Shelter. That track manages to top everything preceding it, with Teresa nailing great backing vocals and Paul burning it up on slide. As Chris told me about that one, make sure you crank it up to 11 or strap on headphones. All this brought to you in fine sound courtesy of Chris and Alex. One of the most unique and enjoyable shows I've ever heard. Let's hope next year brings a repeat of Big Feat!
