View NotesDrivin n Cryin Kevn Kinney and Friends 1987-05-03 The Dugout Atlanta GA Possibly for completists only, this tape has some noise problems but the performances and setlist make it a go. That and the fact that it is the first solo Kevn show I ever taped. Bad start to the night because his lovely bride made oydave late to the show and that's just the worst for a taper, in't it? So for the solo Kevn show, the usual stark space of the college bar had tables and the late guy got the very last table in the joint which was back...WAY back...back FURTHER than the bar, it felt like. It was near the passage to the back with big ice machines and such. I was unconcerned at the time about tape quality because I hadn't yet figured out these tapes were for the ages. I was just doing it to listen to a couple times until the next show. Anyway I sat down and hit red. The crowd noise was wicked but Kevn was on. I didn't know it but some bar machine, an ice machine or something was putting out such a racket, it was all over the tape. I tried isolating it and pulling it out with Audacity but it sounded too weird like noise reduction of all kinds will. The only one of Kevn's "Friends" I can ID here in the future is the front guy from a band called Think Jet. He sings the awful Roger Dodger near the end. That's when the evil succubus pulled me out just as Kevn launched into Leader The Follow. Dang it.
