View Notes...cover tunes/raps & their corresponding artists/writers: "come & get your love" - Redbone, artist (1st release in November 1973); Lolly Vegas (Candido Albelando Vasquez-Vegas), writer "lucretia my reflection" - the Sisters Of Mercy, artist (1st release on 11/13/1987); Andrew Eldritch, writer Jerry Joseph (Jerry Wayne Joseph) - acoustic guitar, vox Goldey Notes: --Thanks to John Adams for lending his tape to be transferred and shared --An intimate performance from a coffee house in Butte's historical red light district. --Blue Venus opened in the early 1990s and closed in 1998, and then had a fire in 1999 and eventually reopened as "Venus Rising", serving coffee once again but not Jerry Joseph. --In any event, the tape had a problem towards the end of "Election Day" and cuts off abruptly. It's not clear whether anything is missing between "Election Day" and "The Jump", or how much of "Election Day" is missing. --Enjoy! --mhg :: 2024-04-04 vg NOTES (2024-04-05): --Thanks so darn much to whomever originally recorded & shared out this Jerry Joseph 1995 show, to John Adams for getting his copy to Mark Goldey & to Mark Goldey for the transfer & spreading of it far & wide for all of us to enjoy. Absolutely Appreciated & sounds terrific!! --t03 ("Speedwater") is aborted (due to the broken string) after getting thru the 1st chorus following the lyrics "Speedwater, Speedwater the party's just only begun, Hey!!" --t04 ("Election Day") cuts during the final chorus directly after the lyrics "I'd give a leg to make you mine" so all that's missing from the lyrics are the final 2 lines "It's election day again, Swear to God I won't go blind again"...I would estimate about 10-30 seconds are missing of the tune...after listening to this, my theory is that the power went out in the place for a spit there, cutting the PA, the mixing desk & the recording deck...I believe this because at the start of the next track (t05), Jerry is doing that strumming thing that he does to check his guitar in the monitors & then does a "Check!!" into the mic to make sure his vox are back & everything is good to go again, etc., ya feel me?? --I added the band members info --corrected some song titles toward how they appear on the original albums --added more detail to the setlist info & venue info --after becoming the "Venus Rising Espresso House" at the same 124 Main Street address sometime after 1999, the business moved to 128 West Granite at some point in the 2000s...in July of 2018, they could not get their lease renewed & were forced to find a new space...they secured their new address at 113 North Hamilton Street (formerly "Julian's Piano Bar") in September of 2018 & the place is still in business there --https://www.facebook.com/VenusRisingEspressoHouse/ --https://mtstandard.com/business/venus-rising-espresso-house/article_f1baac5e-c0f2-5c89-a014-270662c3ae42.html --https://mtstandard.com/news/local/free-film-series-starts-thursday-at-blue-venus/article_4f5004e4-7a51-5722-b8c4-ffe012fa9bea.html --https://buttehistory.blogspot.com/2012/01/ --added pics of the venue (note that these pics were from when the place had become the "Venus Rising Espresso House", but still at the 124 Main Street address...check out the Blue Venus cups & logo that still carried over) --created an md5 checksum file --added the md5 checksums to the text file
