View NotesNotes: This was a very special night, even with it being inauguration day, we all needed to share this sweet music together. The Old Church was was built in 1882 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 as it’s an excellent example of Carpenter Gothic architecture and it has been unaltered since its construction in the 1880s. see: http://theoldchurch.org/about/architecture/ It is also home to a fantastic Steinway Grand piano and was amazing to see and hear Holly play in this setting. You might ask or wonder why I placed 6 mics onstage to mic the piano, but do you really wonder? The piano sounds fantastic and in attempt to capture not only the sound of this instrument but also the ambience of the gothic hall I not only wanted to close mic but also mic at a slight distance. I think it was well worth the effort and a huge thank you to both Holly and Jeffery Bowling and to the Staff of the Old Church for giving me permission “to go crazy” with the mics. I am really pleased with how this recording sounds and how respectful the crowd was this evening. I think this may be one of my best recordings to date, and am impressed with the natural sound of the piano and the music Holly created for us. Enjoy — ArchivalAudio
