View Notes* with Eva Walsh on violin # with Harris Paseltiner of Darlingside on cello The second show of Guster's four-night run at the Paradise in honor of their 25th anniversary as a band and the 40th anniversary of the club. The band also played a short acoustic set on WGBH-FM at the Boston Public Library earlier in the day. The last two songs of the main set were performed acoustic around a single microphone as a throwback to the band's Parachute days. "Tim!" was an improv song dedicated to fan Tim Gammel, who Ryan had joked around with earlier in the show when he identified a song based on the first chord. Many thanks to Guster sound engineer Dan for not only allowing me the ceiling clamp space above his console, but for complimenting me on it. I often get self-conscious about being obtrusive, so thanks!

View NotesBoston Public Radio hosts Jim Braude and Margery Eagan broadcast this show live from the Newsfeed Cafe, and Guster joined them for a 40-minute session of songs, interview segments, and a quiz on current events. In the band's honor, the cafe offered a "Cheasy Wonderful" sandwich. As a mic stand would have been very obtrusive, I chose to clamp my mics to the metal casing of the V3, which was in my taping bag on the ground, about 30 feet away from the broadcast location. There were some small speakers set up around the cafe but they weren't particularly strong, so the interview segments can be somewhat hard to hear at times.
