View NotesHere is last night's Greensky Bluegrass show from Kalamazoo. Talk about a throw down, a major throw down! Two disgustingly sic sets is all I can say at this point. After last night, we all expected no less. After Larry Bell introduced the boys, we heard the opening notes of Grow Bananas. Tonight's Raggae combo was Stop That Train>You Can't Fool The Youths. Tonight's first special guest slot, featured Erin Zindle from the Ragbirds on Fiddle. She helped add some beautiful texture on Old Barns and 9 Days. We got a couple in a row from the obscure list, ut and Under, and I'm Still Here. A smokin' version of the new one, All 4 closed a very tight set. The second set opened with Just To Lie. Then we were treated to a nice three song jam of Freeborn Man>Broken Highway>Doves Cry! Very nice indeed. It gets better as the boys launched Into the rafters>Doin' My Time>Dry County>Dancin' In The Dark>Doin' My Time. Oh yeah! For the 2nd night in a row, Pete Kartsounes, of the Wayward Sons joined into the fray. I believe the name of the tune was Gospel Plow. This segued into Sisters and Brothers for the set ender. The encore was pure smoke! They pulled out the Cassidy>Cryptical>Other One>Cassidy sandwich. Pete was up there for the entire encore. He lent his guitar licks very nicely for an intense Other One. No Power outage tonight as Alec got there early in the day and ended up swapping a few pieces around on different circuits. Nice hangin' with Willy P, Craig, Tyler and Laurie, Bill, Dave, Andy, Pam, Abby, Steve, Elron and Kareen, Big Zack, Meegan, Chris, Erin and Randall of the Ragbirds, Tuna from the Macpodz, and all the usual suspects! I ended up going back to Dave's house where I stayed up til about 4:30, as I got the torrent going. I hit the Greek Festival again this year for some mid afternoon chow, The Combination Plate contained Mousaka, Rice, Pastitsio, Gyro Meat, and Grilled Flatbread. Add some Tzaziki Sauce and I was good for a few hours. Before the boys hit the stage, I devoured a Grilled Coconut/BBQ Chicken Breast Sandwich with Salt and Pepper Kettle Chips for good measure! Another great 2 night run. Not a repeat from GSBG between the 2 nights. I was surprised that the turnout was lighter for the Saturday night show. I was thinking perhaps the weather may have prohibited folks from attending. Even though there was a huge tent covering the lawn, maybe folks just were not aware of it. Great music, friends, food, and beer, in a sweet setting equals great times for all. See ya back next June, same time, same channel! Thanks again to Dave and Anna for the awesome hospitality! Enjoy show # 119 of 2009!
