--this venue was designed by noted theater architect Thomas W.Lamb & built in 1926 & served as a place for vaudeville & cinema & continued as a movie theater until 1970;  then, in 1970 it was renovated for use as a performance space;  in the 1980s & into the 1990s, the frequency of live events at the theatre diminished & then from October 2001 to December 2011, it became a catering and special-events facility, run by owner Marvin Ravikoff;  in December 2011, it was announced that the theatre was to be reopened by music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro & he did just that on 2012-09-04...then, in December 2012, Shapiro outright purchased the theatre & it thrives to this day (2025)
