I couldn't have asked for more talented musicians, as their amazing abilities proved, but everyone involved was doing it because they love to play and create. I was really overwelmed with how kind and enthused everyone was!! Set 1 The night started with Kevin (on drums) brendan, steve, mike, joe, and nick. We were just getting warmed up, and it was starting to feel good. Think MMW with more punch and 2 guitars! Cool dance grooves with some inspired solo work by Steve! It should also be pointed out that Brendan and Mike play together like peas and carrots! They were the backbone for the whole night, and it would not have worked the way it did without them!! I am still waiting for Brendan's guitar to take off into space with some of the sounds that come out of it. Half way we cooled it down a little with an acoustic duet with my good friend Jose Martinez. A mellow number that we have been working on. Charlie and Gannon!!!! WOW The next jam (17min) saw Gannon on drums, me on percussion, Charlie on guitar, Brendan, Mike and Nick. This was a highlight for me. Charlie is so talented and gifted, and more then anything, one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Gannon and Charlie were in the drivers seat on this one, and I started to get this out of body experience (damn this sounds good to me, damn I cant believe how much fun everyone is having, damn this is what I have wanted to do on stage for a LONG TIME!!!) Set 2 This set started off with Adrian on bass, me on acoustic guitar, gannon, steve, mike, brendan, and Jose for the first song "Gone." Feeling inspired, I called out a few chord progressions, and the guys just nailed it giving the audience a "Cats in Tuxedos" with a complete Facelift! Having Adrian and Gannon together was a treat. They had not jammed together since the departure of Bad Shoe so it must have felt good for them too. Both these guys can just flat out play. The last jam we did with these guys was a jam that pushed me to play guitar in a way that i have never played before and I am so thankful of that. Very inspiring The last jam of the night saw Charlie Hitchcock grace the stage again, along with me on drums, nick, steve, joe, and mike. this jam (about 30min) was intense for me. I felt like I finally turned a corner with my own abilities. Anticipation is the most important tool for creating that "epic" moment. As we were closing up, and Charlie was melting minds, my drum stick broke in half and sonic oooze dripped out of everyone's instruments to end the show. I think that it was suppose to end that way peace and love Kevin Gordon
