Handy Music Festival. The Decoys, featuring Patterson's dad, David Hood on bass, opened the show. Spooner Oldham and Donnie Fritts performed four songs each with The Decoys. This was not my choice of venues for The Truckers. There was no beer (university auditorium) and no liquid refreshments whatsoever. It was a great sounding room, however, and the show rocked, despite some complaints by some "elderly" folks who apparently weren't aware of what the Truckers are all about (loud). The "Carl Perkins' Cadillac" opener was appropriate since Sam Phillips was born in Florence. They played a variety of tracks that had local connections like "Where's Eddie" and "Everybody Needs Love," "Ronnie and Neal," "Buttholeville," "Let There Be Rock" and "Zip City." enjoy!
