--I'd never heard of Third Mind, a semi-supergroup launched by Dave Alvin and Camper Van Beethoven's Victor Krummenacher to play mostly '60s psychedelic-blues-rock covers, before stumbling upon a show conveniently scheduled during a trip I had planned to the Bay Area.  
--AllMusic has called them "essentially a jam band without audibly hippie-like tendencies," which is about right — they would have fit in extremely well playing the original Woodstock at 2 am, I imagine.  
--Founding member David Immerglück was replaced by local guitarist Mark Karan for this West Coast tour. 
--The Mystic Theatre is an old vaudeville hall with iffy sound, and the crowd had been chatty during Rain Parade's opening set, so I switched out my AT-853 binaural mics for Church Audio CA-14 cardioids for the Third Mind, but both turned out to sound much better than it did to my ears in the moment.
