Performing 9/2/78 Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ] Taper Notes- I was able to see and record this DSO show thanks to my good friend ‘Taper Ron’ Owensby, one of my first taping partners from Dead Days of old. Ron used to run the DSO forums on the internet and was able to put me and a friend on the guest list for this night, which took place in Arroyo Grande, the boyhood home of Robert Hunter. I thought it was funny to see a lot of very well dressed older folks who quietly got up and left the auditorium midway through the show. These were no doubt season ticket holders who came thinking they were going to see an ‘orchestra’, as what was printed on the tickets, and had no idea that they would be instead listening to renditions of a 60’s counterculture acid rock band. ;) I set up next to the soundboard in the Clark Center, which is a small performing arts center located next to Arroyo Grande High School. I sent the DAT master to Ron, which he transferred for me and in return sent back the CDs. I was the only taper at this show, that I know of. Enjoy!
