View NotesNotes: The salvaging of this recording is nothing short of a miracle. There were two existing source tapes, both plagued with problems. The soundboard, I handed whoever was mixing sound two blank tapes, and asked him to roll tape, and he obliged. I also ran an audience rig, and was set up in a poor location, with probably cheap mics. The soundboard tape was plagued with pops, clicks, and insane levels bouncing all over the place. The audience recording had a lot of crowd noise, and drunk people bumping into the mic as the night wore on. There were also a couple of harsh tape flips in there. I went through this show, song by song, and merged the salvageable parts of both recordings, into the material presented here. As a result, you will be clearly able to hear the parts that came from the soundboard recording, and the parts that came from the audience. I did my absolute best to try to even out the recording levels, so you don’t blow out your speakers, or your ears while listening. I honestly am amazed that I didn’t need to scrap the recording entirely. Please enjoy it for what it is. It is noteworthy because it did include the debut performances of “Sheep” and “Dinner in Silence”, as well as the only known time the band did “You’re The One That I Want” from the Grease soundtrack. I am relatively certain that I recorded the Headstone Circus set (opening band) but I have not been able to locate the master. I will keep looking. – Wayne Completed: Rochester WI – 7/21/11.
