I taped their set as well but have not transferred it from my cassettes as of yet. Sorry for the tape flip in the middle of Sweet Talking Hippie There is a higher quality 24 bit version of this recording with MP3s and streaming available at https://archive.org/details/bt1991-08-28.flac24 Follow me on Twitter to track my near-daily postings of FREE live music and concert photography: http://www.twitter.com/scott_bernstein Or become a "fan" on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scott-Bernsteins-Live-Music-Photos-Page/166706713365451 Taper notes: Here's a show I had completely forgotten about attending, until, apparently, I dug it out of my box of cassettes to transfer in 2013. And between 2013 and 2019 until I happened upon the files while digging around one of my hard disks, I completely forgot about this show again -- but thanks to Google my memory was jogged when I saw it was a show where Blues Traveler opened for the Allmans. And listening back to the recording completely restored my memory of the show. At the time, I had played their first album and seen them a few times, so I knew the songs in their repertoire well. But this was, apparently, about a week before their 2nd album was to be released, so I was quite surprised to hear them open with 3 songs I wasn't familiar with. "The Tiding" and "Onslaught" were instrumentals and quite different from their typical sound. But "All In The Groove" was catchy. After than, we got a bunch of typical Traveler setlist tunes -- "Gina", "Sweet Talking Hippie" (the band devoted approximately 15 minutes of their 46 minute set to this!), a breathaking version of "100 Years" and a great set closing "But Anyway". That's all she wrote. This recording sounds suprisingly great for a 28+ year old cassette. It needed just a touch of EQ, and otherwise it was perfect. You'll notice that Bobby Sheehan's bass is kinda missing from the opening pair of "The Tiding" and "Onslaught", but the sound guy (who I believe was Rich Vink at the time) gets everything worked out by the time "All In The Groove" starts. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you BARN191, 28 and a half years after I recorded it. Enjoy!
