Unfortunately, every time Black Mountain had previously come to my city, despite the fact that I had heard a lot of positive things about them, I had been unable to catch them and this was my first time seeing them live. As I was heading to Vancouver to catch the Leonard Cohen concert the following day and Roger Waters the next week and would be staying in town, I took the opportunity to come to Vancouver a day early and catch this show at the legendary Commodore Ballroom and was not disappointed. Being in their hometown, Black Mountain headlined with The Black Angels opening. My understanding is that was not the way it was all throughout their Dropout Boogie Tour but was certainly right for this concert. This also happened to be the last night of that tour with the Black Angels. Their performance was excellent and they had no problems selling out the venue. Once the band started, the club was, of course, quick to fill with smoke as Amber's haunting vocals blended perfectly with Jeremy's mysterious floating organ riffs all while the hypnotic rhythm section laid a solid foundation. As you can see in the photos, the lights added to the psychedelic effect making this a not to miss show and one that you're sure to enjoy. ********************************************** Fight the Loudness War! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war No compression was used in the post-processing of this recording to preserve it's dynamic range, listenability and authenticity. This recording will naturally sound much better cranked up loud with quality headphones!
