I did my best to clean some of the whistling and yelling up via EQ. I was sometimes successful, sometimes not. But don't let it scare you away from this recording, it sounds awesome, and the performance is top notch! I scrubbed 26 claps from T3, 14 claps from T15, 4 claps from T6, EQ'd to minimize a loud yell in T7, tried to scrub some 4 loud whistles and some yells from T9, 3 claps in T12, 28 claps in T13, a LOUD whistle in T15, 2 claps from T19, 16 claps from T21, and EQ'd out some feedback in T24 Taper Notes: Following up BARN130, which was a Wetlands Woo Warriors show from 2000 which I recently posted, here's BARN131, another Bernie Worrell And The Woo Warriors show (also featuring Jen Durkin on vocals) from The Knitting Factory. This was the 2nd Knitting Factory location, on Leonard Street, in the main room. I liked to set up in the balcony in this small room, split my mics, and hang them off the edge of the balcony. It made for quite a few VERY nice recordings over the years. The band is largely intact since the 2000 show, minus the sax player -- the legendary Darryl Dixon, who is not present at this show. Otherwise the setlist is similar to the 2000 Wetlands show, though in this show we get a couple of nice treats featuring jazz great Rahsaan Roland Kirk's "Volunteered Slavery" and jazz space-man Sun Ra's "Outerspace Ways, Incorporated". Of course there is a ton of P-Funk and some Bernie originals, though I was not 100% successful in figuring out the entire setlist (please comment on archive.org if you can help with the 2 missing song titles. Apparently this show was professionally recorded for a future DVD release that never happened. At least we still have this version which sounds very nice. There is one more Woo Warriors show (Wetlands, 1999) in my collection (which was before they hired Jen Durkin as a vocalist, I believe). Not sure when I'll get to posting it though. Enjoy!
