Artist: Bela Fleck & the Flecktones Date: 30 November 2008 Location: Kahului, Maui, Hawaii Lineage: Audio Reality binaural mics > Sony RH1 (HiSP 256kbps) > Sonic Stage to PC/WAV > Cool Edit Pro (tracking) > flac A Christmas Concert in support of the new CD, "Jingle All The Way" Christmas music is sprinkled liberally throughout this show. In addition to the specific Christmas songs, they show up in both Victor's and Bela's solos as well as several other tunes. There's some enjoyable interplay between the band during, "Have Yourselves a Merry Little Christmas" when everyone plays one note in the progression. There really is a Hawaiian version of the "12 Days of Christmas". The band borrows from that song for help in this version. Bela also decribes how they will play each day in a different time signature. The audience at this venue tends to be very quiet. As a result, there is virtually no crowd noise during any of the songs; especially during the EXTREMELY quiet parts of Victor's solo. NOTE: the laughter in the audience that you hear during Victor's solo when the cell phone goes off is because of his reaction to the cell phone! His eyes widened and his face pointed to the offender! NOTE: the Aloha from Maui and Mele Kalikimaka!
