View Notespowrtoch22 Notes (2025-03-23): --I do not have the actual date of this performance but it differs from the current circulating 1993 World Cafe session. --March 2025 vg NOTES (2025-03-28): --Thanks so much to powrtoch22 for recording & sharing this Béla Fleck & the Flecktones 1993 show. Absolutely Appreciated!! --this was a live session in front of an audience at the WXPN Studios, but the venue was NOT called "World Cafe Live" yet as that venue (at same address) was established in 2004 --I split this puppy into trax --added more detail to the band members info --added my theory on the actual date of this --I checked out both this & the other 1993 session & here's what I have to offer: ----OTHER 1993 WORLD CAFE SESSION: The other 1993 session was an in studio "World Cafe" session where the Flecktones (which was a trio from December 1992 until April 1997) played live & were interviewed about the new album (1993's "Three Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest") during the 1st hour & the 2nd hour was dedicated to Béla being a guest DJ & playing some more stuff solo. I put that session as mid to late September 1993 as the album was released on 1993-09-18 & they discuss the fact that the album is just currently out & so forth...they also played in Annville, PA on 1993-10-02 & that's just about 90 minutes from Philadelphia, so that would make it very convenient for them, just sayin'. ----THIS 1993 WORLD CAFE SESSION: The session in this torrent was a live afternoon concert at WXPN Studios that "World Cafe" used to do on Friday afternoons & this is definitely later in the year of 1993...Béla even mentions that "It's really been a fun year..." (referring to losing Howard Levy in the band, which happened in December 1992). I'd put it at late November or early December when at that time they were on a promotional swing for the record again, even playing "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" in NYC on 1993-11-24. This easily could be that Friday afternoon on 1993-11-26, though I can't prove that. Also on the program at this concert were Bill Miller & Mark O'Connor for the 1st hour (along with the Béla Fleck portion)...the 2nd hour was dedicated to Philo Records. Béla also mentions that "...in fact, the new record is already recorded & it's a collaboration with the 3 of us & a lot of different people..." & that refers to the 1995 Béla Fleck album "Tales From the Acoustic Planet"...the "New Waltz" played here eventually was named "Three Bridges Home" on that record...discovered that by comparing all the tunes on that record to what is here at this show. --added more detail to the setlist info & venue info --https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%A9la_Fleck_and_the_Flecktones --created new md5 & ffp checksum files for the split trax --added the md5 checksums & the ffp fingerprints to the text file --added some pics of the venue
