Taper Notes:
View NotesThis show was the after-party show for "The Artwalk" in Little Italy, an annual neighborhood block party in San Diego. There was no sound engineer, unfortunately, and the house sound and recording suffered a few times from spots of bad feedback during the first set. It was the band's second performance on the 29th and they were warmed up. They tried out some unusual improvs. Patriotic Echo, a spoken-word piece, got a funky treatment with the band. And the other are like 'early takes' of what later developed into songs.

View NotesThere was brief clipping from Al's vocals through the SBD at the loudest vocal parts near the end of Big in El Portal, and at the end of the verse in Whoopteedee. The SBD feed was spot muted out of the mix at these points. The vocals and clipping can still be heard, although much reduced, from what came through the monitors and was picked up by the pair of mics on stage.
