Alejandro Escovedo w/David Pulkingham (acoustic duo) The Railway Winchester 15 October 2011 A Dutchbird production: recording , mastering & covers. Source: CA14 (cardiods)-> CA-9100-> Edirol R-09HR (41kHz/16bit), recorded 4 meters from the left speaker stacks Eq, volumes, fades and dithering to 16bit SoundForge 9.0 Track splits CDWave, encoded to flac 8 & checksum with TLH Flac files tagged with Foobar2000 ************************************************************************************** Second night to see Alejandro and David in the south of England. I had come over especially to catch a few shows as Alejandro would not come to the Continent. Mike Thompson kindly arranged for me to be on the guestlist and made sure I was getting taping privileges. As it turned out it was the last thing Mike did before resigning from his job. For people who know Mike this didn't come as a surprise. After the turn his life took recently he was looking for a new challenge. He was completely lost, did a lot of soul searching ensued and reached the decision that for the rest of the years he has left on this planet he will spend them in, and for, service to others. Currently he's in the process of helping to launch a new website that's devoted to parents who have lost a child. Additionally, he has become very involved with an Austin based non-profit organization called "Swan Songs", below you'll find a link to their website. What they do is literally help those who are on the last lap of life by providing music and musicians that go to wherever they are and literally "sing them back home". This is something that is very dear and close to Mike's heart. http://www.swansongs.org/index.html Mike asked me spreading the word. He emphasized his decision is not the result of any friction or anything of the sort with him or anyone on "Team Escovedo". Alejandro has always been, and will remain, one of his dearest friends, something Alejandro told me as well. This means Mike can't be of assistence anymore in putting tapers on the guest list, arranging taping facilities etc. Alejandro's policy won't change, so I'm sure tapers will find a way. Thank you Mike for all the years of promoting Alejandro and helping tapers and all the best with your new career. I was expected and treated as royalty. I made 2 recordings, one from the soundboard and the other with mics. Unfortunately the soundboard recording was spoiled: the vocals were hardly to be heard. At the end of the recording they could be heard for about one minute. It's a pity as it sounded very good. I'm sure something went wrong on their end, as I have used the exact same gear after this recording and then it was fine. Well, can't be helped and I still have the audience recording. From its humble beginnings as a barn (and also a brothel if rumours are to be believed) the historic back room at The Railway has, over the years, played host to some of the greatest names in modern music. This underground venue is the perfect environment to experience live music of any genre and it suited Alejandro perfectly. Great show as an ethusiastic audience. *************************************************************************************** Disc One (01:01:03) 01. Introduction 02. Anchor 03.
