DEDICATED TO MIKE THOMPSON, a.k.a a taper's best friend. SBD/AUD matrix Source 1: soundboard-> Edirol R-09HR (16 bit/44.1kHz) Source 2: 2x DPA4061-> CA-9100 (custom built for DPA)-> Edirol R-09 (16 bit/44.2kHz) Disc 1 tracks 12-16 source 2 only Mixed in Audacity, volumes and fades SoundForge 9.0, no further editing Tracks split with CDWave Editor, encoded to flac8 & checksum with TLH Flac files tagged with FooBar2000 A Dutchbird production (recording, mastering and covers) The photos I used for the covers were made by fellow Dimer badger57, who I met by pure change in the pub across the road before the show. Bagder57 it was nice meeting you and your friend, we'll stay in touch. Notes: Some time ago I found out Alejandro would do a UK tour. I asked Mike Thompson if there'd be any chance Alejandro would do a few shows on the mainland, but he didn't. Mike said why not come to the UK? It took me 2 seconds to think about it. Mike made sure I was getting taping permissions, as he has done over the years for many tapers. It turned out to be his last act as fan relations manager for Alejandro, because before Alejandro went on this tour Mike quit his job. For people who know Mike this didn't came as a surprise. After the turn his life took recently he was looking for a new challenge. He was completely lost, did a lot of soul searching ensued and reached the decision that for the rest of the years he has left on this planet he will spend them in, and for, service to others. Currently he's in the process of helping to launch a new website that's devoted to parents who have lost a child. Additionally, he has become very involved with an Austin based non-profit organization called "Swan Songs", below you'll find a link to their website. What they do is literally help those who are on the last lap of life by providing music and musicians that go to wherever they are and literally "sing them back home". This is something that is very dear and close to Mike's heart. http://www.swansongs.org/index.html Mike asked me spreading the word. He emphasized his decision is not the result of any friction or anything of the sort with him or anyone on "Team Escovedo". Alejandro has always been, and will remain, one of his dearest friends, something Alejandro told me as well. This means Mike can't be of assistence anymore in putting tapers on the guest list, arranging taping facilities etc. Alejandro his policy won't change, so I'm sure tapers will find a way. Thank you Mike for all the years of promoting Alejandro and helping tapers and all the best with your new career. We will continue to see you on Dime. Tingewick Village Hall is an old wooden building in a village with one long street and two pubs. In spite of it's unprepossessing exterior, this is a very welcoming venue with good sight lines, great acoustics and a proper stage and is very popular with bands and customers. Although there are no bar facilities The Royal Oak pub is immediately opposite and they do allow you to bring your drinks over to the venue. It has a capacity of 100 seated to 150 standing . The show was sold out. A seated venue is a bit strange for Alejandro, being used to playing at rock clubs. Not many people younger than 50 were in the audience. They were very appreciative and liked the show a lot, but being seated they couldn't respond as Alejandro prefers it. He had to give a lot to get some motion. For me it was difficult to stay in my seat. How different was the show the next day, when he was playing in a real standing rock club with a mixed audience. Both BLuesmick and I recorded that show, so it will fid its way here. Halfway the show Alejandro and David did a few songs unplugged in the audience. Fortunately I was recording with mics as well, so I captured that part. I had to crank up the volume.
