MINI BIO: "Acid Mothers Temple & the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. (and subsequent offshoots) is a Japanese psychedelic band founded in 1995 by members of the Acid Mothers Temple soul-collective. The band is led by guitarist Kawabata Makoto and early in their career featured many musicians but by 2004 the line-up had coalesced with 4 core members and frequent vocal guests. The band have a reputation for phenomenal live shows, and releasing frequent albums on a number of international record labels, as well as the Acid Mothers Temple family record label which was established in 1998 to document the activities of the whole collective." - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which every 14 year old has edited. BAND PAGE: http://www.acidmothers.com SHOW NOTES: Well, it's been nearly a year in the making here. The long story is quite possibly too tedious to relate, the condensed version is that I was hoping to get in touch with the guy who got a SBD feed of the D.C. show, as my AUD did not turn out terribly listenable (C+/C territory, if my memory serves correctly). However, just like the past year, this guy proved a very tricky contact, and eventually the entire 2010 Project was put off onto the great cosmic backburner, in no small part due to my frustration with the sound on the D.C. recording. On the bright side, I got this SBD feed in Baltimore (major props to the sound guy, whose name may very well be Brian but don't quote me on this), so let's let bygones be bygones and sink our teeth into some fresh Mothers, with no distracting audience chatter or bar noises! The 2010 tour seems to feature a smattering of new songs on the setlist which I can't for the life of me identify - any setlist help would be really appreciated. This show has some damn nice moments - Tsuyama's recorder solo in the midst of what is either a very lengthy, multi-faceted jam or a suite of new material is one of those sublime moments that only a very, very few bands can ever quite manage. Don't let the soundboard sound fool you - the normally rowdy Ottobar audience was just as quiet for it as they seem. Tsuyama is on fine form tonight, giving us a taste of Acid-Americana with his touching, soulful rendition of "We Shall [hung]Overcome". Fret not, gentle listener, this will not be the last Acid Mothers recording from this Penguin - 2011 has something special in the air. REQUESTS & REMINDERS: Do not sell this recording.
