View NotesNotes on Stu Allen & Mars Hotel from The Ashkenaz Community Center, Berkeley CA, 9-18-13. Recording gear used: Sound Devices 744T (2) @ 24/96 resolution for an 8-track recording. Sources: Crown SASS P Mk 2 stereo condenser PZM @ the center stage lip; Crown CM-700 cardioid condenser mics, 1 on the Leslie cabinet (organ) and 1 on the stage (left) in front of Stu's guitar speaker; SBD 2-channel feed; direct out from the monitor mixer for the bass; direct out from the monitor mixer for the piano. Path: 744Ts>external hard drive>Samplitude ProX>TLH>flac. Notes from the taper: In the first set, very near the end, both decks shut down. I wasn't near them at the time, so the set ends abruptly in the recording, before the end of the last song. In the second set, just before the beginning, a member of the audience fainted just a few feet from where I was set up to record. I went over to her and watched as 2 people who seemed to know her got her to regain consiousness and get up and walk to a table. I was so concerned about her well-being that I waited until she was up and walking before returning to the recorders. Unfortunately, the set had begun and I only realized that I hadn't hit the record button after her recovery. This resulted in the 1st minute or so of the 1st song not being recorded :( Wish it were otherwise, but it is what it is :) Recorded by: Bob Cogswell Monitor mixer: Shaun Wilson.
