Volume normalization, Sample rate conversion 48khz to 44.1khz using iZotope 64-Bit SRC set higher than "Highest Quality" setting w/anti-alias filter, and dithering to 16 bits using using iZotope MBIT+ with Ultra noise shaping, with high dither settings. Tracked in CDWav.

George was actually thrown 2 birthday parties in 2007 -- a NOLA party and then a NYC party, and this is the NYC date. This was a midnight show and billed as an official Gov't Mule post-show party, as Mule was playing at the Beacon uptown on this night as part of their annual New Years' run. The way it worked out was that PBS (George with Russell Batiste and Brian Stoltz, consisting of 3/4 of the Funky Meters' lineup from the time) played a first set on their own (which was pretty spectacular in its own right -- their cover of Pink Floyd's "Us And Them" hit me by surprise and needs to be heard to be believed, and "Name Up In Lights" and "Bring The Flood" among others bring the heat), followed by a special guest-laden 2nd set, opening with a one-two punch of a Bob Dylan cover followed by a Rolling Stones cover! Of course all of Govt Mule sit in, plus Karl Denson, John Gros, Eric Krasno, and a bunch of other random horn players. The presence of a 2nd drum kit on stage led to some unique (you'll never see this again!) situations such as when George played on the 2nd drum kit for one song, Warren Haynes on another, and George played guitar for a song. In terms of recording quality, it sounds really good but there is a touch of minor distortion on the bass, which was definitely coming out of the PA (I remember it not sounding great at all in the room that night), but overall it's pretty good. This room can sound spectacular when mixed correctly (see The Dead show or the God Street Wine shows I taped there for reference), but unfortunately the mix was just not great on this night. Enjoy!
