View Notes+ = Features lyrics from the song, "Life". Was very much looking forward to this show for the past number of months only to leave a little let down. Billed "Celebrating 20 Years of Clumsy", one tends to think we would be getting an album performance (like every other 20th anniversary tour). Well, to be fair, none of the concert advertisements stated "entirety". I did wonder about this leading up to the first few shows of the tour. The first few setlists finally hit setlist.fm and it looked as if they were skipping "Shaking", "Hello Oskar" & "Let You Down". I was a bit crushed as "Hello Oskar" has been a favorite I havent seen live since '98. But, I took it in stride knowing we would be getting 8 of the 11. I wish that were the case. For some reason, they decided to axe "The Story Of 100 Aisles" & "Car Crash" on top of the previous 3 already being skipped this tour. That leaves a total of 6 songs (3 of which are already played every show of every tour). So, are 3 lesser played album tracks really worth the billing "Celebrating 20 Years of Clumsy"? You be the judge of that. I know how I feel. IMO, what could have been a special unique show was turned into a standard set. Regarding the sound, you will hear a tiny bit of distortion at times. It was at it's worst during the first 2 songs, but pops up every now and then. Im not sure how they did not catch this at soundcheck, but it was very obvious something was off. My friend Steffani heard it, so I know Im not crazy! I tend to be nitpicky over sound, but thats only because I go through hell ensuring I can get the best capture possible at every show I attend. When something is out of my control, it drives me crazy. This show is still very listenable. The distortion only pops up from time to time, so it doesnt detract from the overall listening experience. It did bug me when I was already upset with the setlist. As you might guess with distortion, the bass was very powerful. I did run an EQ to correct this the best I could. On a positive side, the band sounded terrific and the new material was a real treat to hear. "The Ballad Of A Poet" (written for Gord Downie) was one of the few highlights of the show. Very moving. If you're a fan, check this out and try to keep my negative comments in the back of your mind. I just needed to vent.
