Taper Notes:
View NotesThere is debate over whether this is 3/19/66 or 3/12/66. Deadlists has a good discussion of this issue. The consensus there is that the correct date is 3/12/66. This came to me listed as 3/19/66. This is a better copy than what has been in general circulation. That MAY mean the date that came on it is correct. I don't know.

View NotesNotes: This is a remaster of shn id 81951. Paul had heard the way that I had ewmastered a QMS show and wondered whether it might possible to do the same for this. It is a typical Bear mix with vocals in one channel and instruments in the other. So I agreed to see what could be done. First I joined all the files together and loaded it into iZotope RX 8 Advanced. It is possible to split tracks into component parts and I ended up with four stereo files, vocals, bass, percussion and other instruments. This effectively gave me eight channels to work with. I then loaded these four tracks into the multi-channel module of Adobe Audition 3 and set about adjusting levels track by track until I was reasonably happy with what I had. A mixdown was then made which I loaded into RX 8. I sent Paul a sample for him to listen to and he thought it sound ok but asked whether it might be possible to make the sound of Pigpen's organ more prominent as it was very low in the original mix. After several attempts I decided that the best way would ptobably be to add some eq. It has worked to some extent but not as much as we would like. I also eq'd the bass a little too. "Heads Up" has a cut around 2:36, the two parts have been crossfaded together I also removed quite a number of clicks. We think that this sounds much better overall, the mix now gives a better listening experience. Thanks to Paul for providing the original recording and his help with this project. The most surprising thing to me about this Acid Test is that Tiny Tim was billed to appear, whether he did I don't know. remastered by SIRMick October 2021
