Lineage:
Neumann TLM-170s (cardoids, GA floor, just left of SBD) -> Sound Devices 722 (@24/96); FLAC File processing in SoundForge Pro 10.0d (L/R channel time sync to compensate for being slightly off center in the room; volume normalization; resample to 44.1 with iZotope 64-Bit SRC set higher than "Highest Quality" setting w/anti-alias filter; 24->16 bit dither using iZotope MBIT+ Dither with Ultra noise shaping, High dither settings; major clap removal, targeted EQ to reduce feedback and a couple of whistles/yells) Tracked in CDWav.
Taper Notes:
View Notes* = w/Warren Haynes on guitar / vocals + = w/Grace Potter on Vocals # = w/Bobby Keys on saxophone ^ = w/o Bob Weir *** Note that I spent DAYS scrubbing tons of loud claps from this quiet performance from T3(27 claps, 1 burst of feedback), T4(14 claps), T5(24 claps + 1 burst of feedback), T6(57 claps), T7(28 claps), T8(61 claps + 3 bursts of feedback), T9(81 claps, EQ to reduce a whistle, a yell, and 3 bursts of feedback), T10(11 claps, 1 burst of bad feedback), T11(37 claps + 4 bursts of bad feedback), T13(106 claps!), T15(50 claps + EQ to minimize 2 whistles), T16(11 claps), T18(1 clap + 1 burst of feedback), T20(12 claps) *** Unfortunately there's nothing I could do about the extremely chatty crowd during this set. I was running on a very tall mic stand, so it's quite listenable, but still...The crowd used Bobby's set as their "social hour" and were barely paying attention to the music. :( Note Bobby's comment at the end of Lost Sailor "I can hardly hear myself" saying he couldn't play "Saint of Circumstance" because it was too loud and needed to go in a different direction. Luckily a few people who WERE paying attention yelled back and convinced him otherwise. :) This was the 2nd show at the newly-reopened Capitol Theatre. It was a benefit concert for Headcount. It was also Pete Shapiro's 40th birthday concert.
